Woodlands Hosts Maths Hub Training
Today, Woodlands hosted teachers and leaders from all around Sheffield as part of the Maths Hub training.
Woodlands welcomed staff from Dobcroft Junior School, St Mary's, Hunter's Bar Junior School and Westbourne School. All of the schools are in the NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics).
The focus of the visit to Woodlands was on variation of maths teaching for mastery. We explored how to carefully choose what to vary and what variation will look like to support deeper learning by providing rich experiences rather than superficial contact. PowerMaths approach at Woodlands highlighted the variation of different representations and made explicit connections for children to question and deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts. We saw great examples from our teachers at Woodlands.
