School Pets
We are very proud to have guinea pigs, African land snails, stick insects and a rabbit as school pets here at Woodlands Primary.
The pets live in the heart of the school, and the children and staff have regular engagement with them. As well as having lots of lovely cuddles, we also engage the children in the animals' wellbeing, development and basic needs, such as feeding and shelter.
As adults and children, sometimes we need the chance regulate our emotions and feelings. What better way to do this than to look after another living thing. We use this carefully with our most vulnerable children to allow them opportunities to regulate and relax with our pets.
