Songs In Early Years

In Early Years, we live and breathe songs and rhymes!

We use singing to support our rules, routines and expectations, to support and enhance our topics and focus stories and to build up our acquisition of language and literacy skills. Most of all, singing helps us to grow in confidence and it's lots of fun!

What do we sing?

In Early Years at Woodlands Primary School, we know that it is important to carefully plan and structure certain elements of our curriculum and learning new songs is no exception! Across the Key Stage, we focus on learning one song per week. This means that by the time they leave Early Years, our children will have a repertoire of over 40 songs and rhymes!

Although these songs are planned and embedded into our curriculum, there is also plenty of singing throughout the day and you will often hear children and teachers spontaneously bursting into song!

An entire year of planned songs!
